it seems like alot of the final table were just going to fast, and playing alot of mid-high hands instead of waiting it out for a AA,KK,AK, etc...If they had it would have slowed play down and maybe have interrupted Gold's play as he would be aware that they were only calling with huge hands that even his luck might not beat. after that they could mix up play a bit more.
it may have been too expensive with the blinds for that but i dont know...
