He had 17 outs (not counting gold's hand as he doesn't know his hand). 17 x 2= 34[%] x 2 (turn + river) = 68% to get one of his cards on the turn or river. If you consider gold's 4 of spade, it goes down to 64%. So he had 64% chance to win pretty much. Naturally it got reduced to 54% since the pot is 3 handed. That was a monster draw and definitively a call. Pot odds don't change anything really. This is the final table of a tournament, not a cash game. He had the opportunity to win and folded.

That really is a legendary hand. I've never seen Wasicka in an interview about it, but I think if he knew he would have made second anyway I think he calls. utterly SICK that he would have made the flush.

can't believe he folded that......
open end straight flush draw, and he's got the nut straight if he makes it, what's there to think about?
if he won the pot, he would at least have a chance to win, now Binger is out, and he's dreadfully short stacked

i understand where you're coming from but if uve ever played in a tournament before, you get more money if u move up a spot. an open ended straight flush draw will give around 50% favor against a pair, so its reasonably likely to miss the draw. its an obvious choice to fold becuz ull get a guaranteed 3 extra million if u survive one more spot.

pot odds only make a difference if you think you are calling from behind.
what you really want to think about is tournament equity. if you know 100% you can move up a payout level by folding, it is a huge plus to folding. even if it gives you a better chance to win the tournament, the great chance that you will win a few million more might (from a monetary standpoint) make it worth it.

well then i dont see how he cant make the call. a chance to almost triple up and had tons of outs even if jamie hit a set

I think you misread some part of my post, as everything I said is an argument for folding. Would I have folded there? Probably not; I'm just providing the argument for that side.

Your math is ... ( 1 week ago by KingTrebla)
Your math is completely incorrect.
if it is 17 outs it's 17 out of 42 outs he can hit.
That's 40% 38% if you include the outted card
and we're not sure that Binger would of called if Wasicka went all in
