poker after dark
pro poker players ... ( 4 months ago by kingofcupcakes)
pro poker players tend to adt erratic on purpose, which is why the laak's river check didnt give anything away the same way the pre-flop action didnt. esfandiari could've bluffed pre-flop and just gotten lucky with a ten or 2 pair. likewise, laak's check on the river could've been a check-raise lure. poker's not as one-dimensional as you make it sound
Sorry king, after ... ( 4 months ago by Mysteriousbox)
Sorry king, after re-reading my post it does sound silly and one dimensional. Although I cannot confirm this in anyway I can assure you I am more knowledgable in poker than my post suggests, I am my countries finals for $100,000 (new zealand) in late September. But thank you for drawing this to my attention and doing it in a mature way :)
Chriise, good point also.
Not going to reply to other posts.
phil played this ... ( 4 months ago by Sivart223)
phil played this hand horribly. He should have never checked the turn. If he bet it he would have never been in that position.
Not really that ... ( 4 months ago by hoangal)
Not really that great of a call. Not a huge pot and Antonio's action didn't seem like he was drawing at an open ender. He played a fairly small pot. An Ace wasn't lkely either.
wow. AJ, AT, A8, A9 ... ( 3 months ago by OsefKincaid)
wow. AJ, AT, A8, A9, made straight on the flop, set, Tx... He called a bet on the flop, which is exactly what a player with a lot of chips would do with an open-ender... Geez, what do you need for a great call, nowadays...

theres no such ... ( 3 months ago by gusim123)
theres no such thing as a good call. its all crap. you're are disillusioned muppets. Its all just luck. The only reason it was a great call was because antonio didn't have a straight, an ace, 2 pair or anything basically. He was just LUCKY that he guessed correctly. Its all LUCK.

Ummm....false. ... ( 2 months ago by rassy1102)
Ummm....false. Simply the goofiest sounding thing I've heard in weeks. Thanks for the laugh ;) If you're serious, please allow me to explain. Laak is not playing a computer. He's playing a human being. Human beings react to certain situations in certain ways and act accordingly. Antonio's betting patterns, body language, and other such things give away the strength of his hand. With Antonio, it is MUCH less obvious than your average poker player. Thus, the difference between pros and amateurs.
load of crap. Come ... ( 2 months ago by gusim123)
load of crap. Come on man. you are all seriously idiots. There is a small element of reading body language but largely most people play the same after a long enough time playing the game. Poker is luck. Mostly luck. IF it wasn't the same players would keep winning all the time but they don't!!. YES phil helmuth has won 11 bracelets but thats over 20 years. How many tournemants do you think he enters every year? Why doesn't he win all the time? because its mainly luck you stupid idiots.
Hey say what you ... ( 2 months ago by kungfuseadog)
Hey say what you want I'd play you for any amount I can afford any day son.
thats right. And ... ( 2 months ago by gusim123)
thats right. And when i call your AA with 88 and catch and 8 on the river you'll probably begin to realise that it is all really just a game of luck. wake up!! Celebrities have to publicize it as a skill game to increase popluarity for the gaming companies.

To ... ( 1 month ago by r4gn4r0kkk)
To GingerIsADisability : The commentator said that to emphasize the fact that it would be very hard for Phil to call if Antonio makes a bet on that river and that's what happened.
Try to understand better what people say...
