In fairness, he mostly just gets mad when the other player makes a dumb call and then flukes out and wins the hand in spite of being the underdog. In this case he made a smart call and then fluked out and won in spite of being the underdog.
Even though he was the underdog card-wise, he had so much more money than his opponent that it was worth calling the all-in just for the chance to put him out. If the hand had gone the other way, Helmuth still would have been in a very strong position.

The guy acts like an ass, but generally only after someone makes a bad call and catches lucky on him. Face it, most pros just want the $. Hellmuth wants to be the best and to be the best, at anything, you have to have ego and lots of it. Its what drives the best in any sport/game. It would be nice if he could rein it in, but he's so convinced he's the best that any pot he loses has to be idiot play and searingly stupid luck, and an insult to his skills. Oh well, they hated John McEnroe too.

I ran into him in an airport once. He is about 6 foot 3 or so. I am 6 foot even and I was looking up at him. I suspect his large frame allows him to get away w some of his BS with a lot of guys. He wears his "uniform" black jacket, UB hat and shades in public. (To get recognized and ego stroked probably)
