phil ivey is king.
stupid play by jackson on the 2nd re-raise. pretty much a min 2nd raise with only 390,000 back. he has to push there and he didn't. ivey took that read and ran with it..

Bad play from both. Looks like phil must have been tilted when he decided to raise a re-raise.

If this happens on a $10 table online we all call it donkey poker. But when Phil Ivey And Paul Jackson do it we all fall over ourselves praising them.
I dont think this hand was played well - I think they both closed their eyes and hoped for the best on an inocuois flop. Its real dont try this at home stuff.
The fact remains, however, they are both obviously superb players - but this was not a hand played well and not an example to beginners!

i disagree,
its hard making decisions since us viewers know what each guy has but to me jackson looked disgruntled preflop so i felt phil thought he had low cards, once the flop came and phil raised to me jackson sighed and looked disgruntled yet again but i feel he tried to take a stand against phil and phil read him and wanted to milk him for what he was worth.. so much for value betting!

i wouldnt say bad play from both i would say phil had the read on jackson, and when jackson saw or felt he was pretty pot commited he tried to raise his was out of it.. i thought jackson should of pushed all in if he wanted a chance at that pot
point in fact is ... ( 4 months ago by whiterice714)
point in fact is he's never playing a J like that, he's never playing a 7 like that, and he's never playing a PP like that... so his range is drastically leaning towards air... he'd have shoved for value as a RR, or 4bet all in, there's NO WAY he'd have left himself 385k after phil b/3b's him... poor play on paul's part IMO considering the fact that he KNOWS HE'S PLAYING PHIL IVEY!!! who the fucc tries shyt like this vs ivey... if ur gonna, at least bet like a man.. dnt give IVEY fold equity lol

paul jackson is ... ( 3 months ago by runqmc)
paul jackson is known for trapping players with strong hands.. ivey knew this and knew his raise on the flop was a bluff. when jackson later reraised ivey and left few chips in front of him, it was clear to ivey that jackson wasnt strong since he didnt reraise all in. ivey is the master

Here's the problem ... ( 2 months ago by PhanatixDDH)
Here's the problem with ur logic though (not necessarily a problem, but...), how would Ivey automatically know he was bluffing just because he didn't move all in? Why wouldn't Phil think.."Hey, he only has a few chips left in front of him...if I raise there's no way he's folding...".
That's just the way I think of it anyways.

if paul jackson had ... ( 1 month ago by ujmm)
if paul jackson had a J in his hand. phil would still have 65% of the chips. Phil got a read on him. and did like his chances. but if they had the same chip count, phil never would have gone all-in there

you're both telling ways to look at the hand being Phil. But the fact that you can see it in more than 1 way makes it an insane call. You have to try to place yourself into Phil, not knowing your opponents hand. That makes it way more sick
Yeah, it's harder ... ( 1 month ago by PhanatixDDH)
Yeah, it's harder to think of it when we know the cards and Phil didn't but what me and the other guy were getting at is that the All-In move is a little easier for Phil because he knows that even if he gets called, he'll still have a healthy chip lead. Still not an easy move by any means, but it's slightly easier. It's still one of the sickest moves ive ever seen lol.
