I really dont understand a check on the river there... the only chance in the world daniel ahs to get away from this hand is that raise on the river. Gue=s clearly thought daniel had a huge hand(you cant check a river out of position in a 300k pot with the nuts otherwise) So why give him an oppurtunity to think about it. gus should have just went with his read and bet, daniel moves in without thinking... instead gus gives him cause for concern... fortunately for him daniels hand was TOO big

Gus knew exactly what Daniel was gonna do and have, Gus knew Daniel would bet on the river and raise Daniel all in, Daniel couldnt put Gus on any stronger hand than straight although Daniel mentioned 9s,8s,5s. If I had 4th nut and someone put me all in, its so easy to fold. Daniel is one or more steps behind Gus!!!!!!

I agree except that I think Gus put Daniel on aces. In that case he figured that Daniel would never call a bet on the river but may bet the aces for value if Gus checks, thinking Gus wouldn't check a straight or a full house.
Actually Daniel would've checked it down with aces and I guess Gus knows that by now but maybe they didn't know each other that well back then.

wow you would definitely not fold a full house 6s full of 5s! I mean not even the best player in the world could do that lol!!!!!!!!! The biggest hand I could probably lay down would be a flush lol! Full house extremely hard to lay down unless u have like 89 and the board is 99KK5 or something like that where the other guy might have a Ks full of 9s full house lol!

nah, the way he played it got all of daniels money in. if gus had just made a big bet on the river, that board is wayy too deadly at that point, daniel would just call it, no way hes raising there after he thinks it out imo

I'd root for Daniel heads up any day. He is usually spot on with his reads, he figured Gus had something similar to what he did, but he was too pot committed and you can't fold a full house in that situation. Gus got lucky and Daniel is overall better.

Medstu56 let me take this slowly for you so you'll understand. Ok, first of all it's impossible to know each other's hands. That's obvious. If anyone would have been that pot committed and had a full house with those cards on the board then they would have played the exact same way. If Hellmuth was in Negreanu's seat he would have done the same thing. Anyone good would have done the same thing Daniel did. It doesn't make him dumb or worse than Gus. Put anyone in that position and they would lose

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Anybody in that given situation would have been beaten by Gus' hand. That doesn't make Gus better than Daniel. You could have put Moneymaker in Gus' seat and Moneymaker would have beaten anyone with that hand. Doesn't mean he's better...look at the stats

Nobody could lay the hand down. The best Daniel could do would have been to check behind on the river. However, the brilliant reading talent that all is fan-boys think he has failred him this time.
And most of the money went in after Daniel was beaten. So it's not exactly a bad beat.
